An afternoon in the country

This afternoon we drove out to Staiglitz
A few houses that
are all that's left of a booming gold rush town in the late 1800s.
Today was quilt airing day when local women hung their quilts out to display their work but also to mark the end of winter here when the quilts were aired before storing for the summer.
It was  a lovely day with warm sunshine eating under budding trees.   Chris used to live nearby and we met his mother who played hymns on the country churh organ.
The quilts were colorful and the old courthouse had displays about the gold rush days.
We drove home through fields of yellow canola.

  1. Southern hemisphere entering summer while our trees are changing into fall colors and we are bringing quilts out of the closet to warm us. Beautiful pictures.
